Chemicals was founded in 1974 by Dr. Sukanta Sengupta with a compelling vision to prove simple porcelain can be used in innovative & multi-disciplinary way to provide cost-effective solutions to the people who are in transformer and capacitor business. Dr. Sengupta was inspired by his father Mr. Suresh C. Sengupta who was a great designer of a furnace and a renowned name in the porcelain industry immediately after independence. Dr. Sengupta mixed his intelligence and knowledge of coordination-chemistry which was gained during his Ph.D. research work for inventing some unique technologies to metalize the porcelain. He guided the organization with his unmatched expertise and passion to establish S.G. Chemicals as one of the fastest-growing insulator companies in India. After the untimley demise of Dr. Senguta in 2003, S.G. Chemicals is being navigated by his wife Mrs. Lina Sengupta for the last 17 years. She has operated the company with the highest ethical standards and professionalism. Today, S.G. Chemicals has world-class manufacturing facilities that are certified by many regulatory authorities and significant market share in all segments of insulators.
